Cruising the Dunes

Cheryl had the great idea to head to the coast today and it was so beautiful. We headed out early in the morning so we could get the goods spots and it was great that we did because the place filled up fast. Aaron was on-call today so he wasn't able to join us but Cheryl and family and my parents and Grandma all came. Lauren was so excited to ride in the dune buggy she was asking first thing. Lonnie took the three girls and my dad on the first trip. Colin was going to go and even sat for a minute but wouldn't wear his sunglasses so he couldn't go. There is quite a bit of spray and sand doesn't feel good in your eye. They had a blast on their outing. Next was Lonnie (Cheryl doesn't drive this one), Mom, Grandma, and myself. It was so much fun. We went all over and it was so beautiful. Then time for lunch so Lonnie could have a break. Colin finally decided to go and was willing to wear the glasses. He had a wonderful time. Lonnie did one final trip and Colin even went again. Everyone had a great time and the weather was amazing. Stay tune for Cheryl's blog for more pictures. She has some great shots.
The girls getting ready for their first ride. For those of you wondering where their helmet are they have seat belts on and are VERY safe.

My Grandma on her first ride to the dunes ever. She had so much fun.

My Mom was trying to help Colin feel more comfortable about going on a ride.

I just had to put a picture of Cheryl with Colin because these moments are very rare.

The kids were convinced they could push this over. So cute. They spent a lot of time just playing in the sand and running up the hill.

Colin's first ride out and ...

he fell asleep. I know it must have been the quiet, smooth ride. O.K. so I don't get how but he was asleep.

One final ride and all riders stayed awake.

Thank you Lonnie and Cheryl for a great day and many rides in the buggy. My kids had a great time and Lauren has already asked when she gets to do that again. We ended the day with dinner at the parents house and then a much needed bath. My kids went to sleep fast tonight. This was a good day.

This was a great day, minus a few pieces of sand. The weather and company could not have been better. All that wonderful sand and no buckets to bring it home, just cuffs on the children's pants.
